Lapland – Europe’s Pristine Winter Playground

Travel

It’s a well known fact that Lapland is one of the most beautiful locations in the world, especially during its winter months. It’s an absolute haven for children, but few people realize it’s actually a fantastic holiday destination for adults too. Kids love Lapland because they can meet Santa and all the other animals and wildlife that Lapland offers up, as well as some unique winter activities they might not get to take part in back home.

Adults love Lapland because of the beautiful sights and attractions that are unique to the region, as well as meaningful experiences you encounter that really stimulate the senses.

There is one place in Lapland that can’t be missed, it’s a great build up to the magic of Santa, and it’s also a place that will leave children mesmerized and adults amazed, and this place has to be the Lainio Snow Village. This village is annually constructed as soon as the temperature drops to about 10 degrees below zero, usually around October or November.

The construction is different each year, utilizing the skills of only the best specialist construction workers and tools in order to produce some really stunning buildings and sculptures, taking the art form to new levels each year. The Snow Village allows you to have a warm drink at the ice bar, spend a night in the beautiful snow hotel, explore the specially sculpted snow maze, or simply explore the village and enjoy the beautiful feats of engineering that is this beautiful village.

The Amethyst mine is another gorgeous place that has to be visited. It’s truly unique to Lapland, with its various shades of violet it is a wonderful place to visit during your stay. Here, you can explore the different beliefs and tales that surround this epic mine, and maybe even get the opportunity to dig up your own lucky amethyst, it’s a truly unforgettable experience, and perfect for budding photographers too!

Another great experience would have to be a trip through the Rauna Wildlife Park, perfect for families and lovers of animals and wildlife! This wildlife park is home to over 60 species of animals, ranging form the very small, to the very large, each live in the Arctic and other northern regions.

It’s open throughout the year, and is home to the unique Fazer Candy Store – a kids dream. It’s a fantastic opportunity to allow your kids to learn a little bit more about Arctic wildlife and their habitat.

And let’s not forget Lapland’s most famous attraction – Santa Claus Village. Once you have crossed the Arctic Circle, you can dine in the unique restaurants that are found there, or browse the souvenir shops for something to bring home and remember your holiday by (not that it will be easy to forget!)

Then you can finish the day by taking your kids to Santa Claus’s office where they can meet him in person, an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives, it’ll certainly have them believing in Santa Claus for many years to come!

Lapland is the perfect destination for families with younger children, but few people realize you can actually indulge in a nice, grown up holiday too here, making it perfect for couples too. With other activities such as skiing, snowboarding, snowshoe trekking, and even husky sled and reindeer sleigh rides, there will never be a dull moment, and you’ll have a holiday that you all will remember for a lifetime.

Lanzarote’s Absolute Must Visit Sights and Attractions

Travel

In recent years, more and more of us have taken a keen interest in the beautiful island of Lanzarote, and it’s mainly down to the wide variety of popular sights and attractions on offer to families of all ages, but if you’re a new comer to this Spanish island, it can be hard to know where to start, and what the best, must see attractions and sights are. There are a range of lovely must-see destinations on the island that you certainly won’t regret visiting; it’s just finding the time to fit them all into one holiday! You might find yourself coming back time and time again.

One of the most popular natural attractions on the island has to be the Timanfaya National Park. The reason it’s so popular is definitely down to the fact that it is home to an unbelievably magnificent active volcano that heats the stones under your feet, and provides a moon-like landscape constructed off cooled and still flowing lava, a truly epic sight that no holiday in Lanzarote can do without.

Another destination often visited by tourists is the Charco de los Clicos, a great place for families. This green lagoon is hidden away inside cove backed by cliffs that was once the crater of a volcano, and is best witnessed when the afternoon sun is high and the sky and hits the lagoon just right, bringing out the many different colours of the water and the surrounding cliffs. You’ll get the opportunity to hunt for peridots along the beach, and even may a visit to the overlooking restaurants in the village of El Golfo which overlooks the sea.

If you’re on a couple’s holiday, there’s one destination that stands out straight away, and it’s a wine lover’s heaven. The La Geria Wine region is where world class table wines and Malmsey wines are produced and is nothing like any other typical vineyard landscape you may otherwise have seen in the past. This vineyard is different from other vineyards because the vines themselves are actually very widely spaced out, as opposed to growing in long rows. Each has its own individual depressions within the black earth, and half are enclosed by a wall of rough, black lava, giving a unique tasting wine that you will love.

But let’s not forget the unique beaches that Lanzarote, in particular the Playa Blanca. The beaches at Playa Blanca are part of the Monumento Natural de los Ajaches, and there is a wide variety available to you and your family. The Playa Mujeres in particular is the most popular choice available, and is a wide beach of golden sand that offers up walking trails along the headlands for some truly unique views all along the coast. You can drive there, or even arrive by boat from Playa Blanca. If you’re interested in getting that perfect all over tan, the nearby Puerto Muelas is popular for topless bathing, perfect for a completely new experience for couples looking to get that perfect holiday sun-kissed look!

For those who crave to intake some culture and history, the Palacio Spinola is an elegant house, once home to island’s governor. It was built in the mid 1700s, and it still preserves the wonderful colonial feel that spans from the large rooms, to the beautiful woodwork and even the chapel that’s also apart of the land. The best time to tour has to be on a Sunday, when Tesquise is filled with market stalls, and even costumed musicians playing outside the plaza.

And finally, the Los Hervideros, an awesome lava tube formed from lava and gasses once trapped beneath the surface, it enters the sea and has formed some truly spectacular deep sea caves and blow-holes amongst the coarse black rocks. Heavy surf tends to pound the shore, which constantly breaks and wears the stone down creating more caves and blowholes. This is a unique experience, perfect for the whole family, plus it’s a location you can return to time after time, year after year and look for the differences and changes that have occurred since your last departure.

Lanzarote is a wonderful Spanish island that can provide fun for the whole family, it’s wide and diverse range of sights and attractions offer up a completely unique holiday experience that can be enjoyed time and time again.

How to Get Plane Tickets Really in Cheap

Travel

Travel is activity that is joined with human beings since the very beginnings of our culture. In past is was as simple as changing the terrain of hunting grounds or even moving to location where life was safer. Times change and so does traveling. Starting from the foot, going (or maybe riding on a horse) through era of medieval just to end up sitting comfortable in a plane and traveling at amazing speed. Using road and ship will probably never be as time effective as flying is and that is why invention of airplane still holds great and memorable position on humanity inventions table. Today you can get airplane tickets and pay for them as much as for box of more expensive chocolates. I am not oversaturating – it is enough that you keep to few simple rules and you can get airplane ticket that cheap! It is amazing so just continue to read for your benefit!

First of all be flexible and you can get cheap tickets. This factor have huge importance when it comes to getting tickets at bargain price. Ability to get tickets at such prices grow together with your flexibility. When planning vacation set them for a longest possible period of time so you can have bigger timespan when it comes to offers. Making a hard set for a day can leave you with need of buying expensive ticket. Avoid typical and rigid time of your vacation.

Being flexible comes even to choosing a day for your travel. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday you can usually get tickets at best prices. Saturday can be also a good day. Avoid Monday and Friday.

Another thing to consider is a place where you start. Keep in mind that small and unpopular airports can give you a better price on a ticket. The difference can be so big that even if you would to need to travel 200-300km’s to reach such an airport it will still be saving of bigger amount of money.

Generally speaking taking tickets off the main season is easier and cheaper. You can also travel with more ease as there is not so much people who go to visit the same place as you do. Personally I do not mind if place of my dream brake time is not fully packed with tourists as I can at least watch the views and not loads of people with cameras. If that argument does not move you then the off-season price of tickets should as most of the time it can make you laugh (from happiness!).

Join flying & travel related clubs and pools. As much of them as you can. These clubs receive a lot of discounts and better offers as their members are targeted audience for companies offering cheap tickets. Remember to give yourself time for this hunting as after week or two you might find a better offer. The “last day” type tickets can be enormous saving on travel cost but you need to be prepared to leave fast and that is why flexibility is some important when it comes to getting tickets cheap.
