An historic event electing the first woman president of Costa Rica was a huge step into the future for this tiny Latin American country. Already the most progressive country in Central America, Costa Rica is home to the South-of-the-Border operations of some familiar, global tech giants and international call centers filling commercial space in much of the area near the Capital of San Jose. So much so, that it is being called the Silicon Valley of Latin America after the dot com industry region in Northern California.

President-elect Laura Chinchilla won a long hard fight to win the election on February 7, 2010 and will be inaugurated in May 2010 where she will begin leading her country well into the 21st century.

Already working hard on many important issues, the newly elected president also has a family and personal life and certainly needed a break. Time to stop and regroup was finally available to her. Her first choice for privacy, relaxation and luxury befitting a president was, of course, Los Sue
