Holiday Planning and Pre Travel Checkups

All Travel Guide & Holiday Tips : Travel

Traveling abroad or within your own country is a very exciting time, especially when taking a holiday. We all enjoy visiting exotic places and experience new cultures and people. However, preparing for the trip can be very stressful; as you want to make sure that you have everything in order before you embark on your trip. The following information will help relieve any anxieties by helping you make sure you have made all of the essential arrangements prior to your trip.

Health Check Up: It is important to get a health check up from your physician around 4 to 6 weeks before travel. Based on your travel destination, your physician can assess your health needs. For instance, there are immunizations you may need and certain preventative medications that can be taken such as preventing gastrointestinal disease. Make sure you check with the Country Travel Reports to find out about health concerns, safety and security conditions, and entry requirements for your destination.

Identification: When traveling domestically by plane, passengers over the age of 16 must have some form of government-issued photo identification such as a health card or valid driver’s license. Children under the age of 16 should have a non-government issued ID such as a student ID card or original birth certificate. Passengers traveling abroad, including the United States, must have a valid passport

Flight Tickets: Before you head out to the airport, make sure you have confirmed your flight 24 to 72 hours prior to departure. This way you will find out if there have been any changes such as a cancellation or delay.

Visas: Check with the Consular Affairs website for the countries that require a visa. You can also check with a travel agent about the visa requirements for the country you are planning to visit. Make copies of all your essential documents and leave them in a safe place while you are on your trip.

Insurance: Check to see if you are covered by your home, credit card, or auto club insurance.

If you are not covered or do not have adequate coverage, you should considered purchasing travel insurance.

Cash: It is important to keep a minimum amount of currency that you need to avoid any problems such as losing your money or having it stolen. Check to see if the country you are traveling to accepts travelers’ checks.

Airport Security and Packing: When packing, you have to know what you can and cannot bring on a flight. Travelers are permitted to bring liquids, gels, and aerosols as long as they are in containers with a capacity of 100ml / 100 grams or less. Liquid prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger’s ticket or boarding pass, are allowed. Passengers should have documentation supporting a medical condition. Clearly label your luggage so that it can be easily identified.

To make your trip more relaxing and fun, it is important to make sure you have made all of your pre-flight arrangements. By keeping a list of what you have to do and what you must bring on your trip, it will help ensure a problem free walk through security, a comfortable flight, and an enjoyable trip away from home.
